First let me say how much I love you all. Each and everyone of you if you read this or wrote it or whatever. You are a part of me and I love you. This was some scary shit. If you have ever had a heart attack its like your heart is collapsing on your chest.
I told Mom that I was a little bit pissed with God because I wanted him to let me be ok and here I am! I will have to speak with him about that.... just kidding. It has been a rough two weeks and I appreciate, so much, all of your cards and letters and for those of you who know me I appreciate you giving me some space. I don't know why I have to deal with things on my own, but I do. So thank you for being considerate. Barrett is with me tonight and we are in Durham at the ICU and we are writing this note. I hope to come home Sunday, but I really don't know.
I saw a man today in the hospital who was a "spiritual healer" who was trying to help me to sleep because I have not been able to. He was giving me some "spiritual guidance." He was basically telling me what Beth always says... Life is full of changes. Lots of changes coming up, but we will make them together.
Thanks again for all of your love and support and for looking after Beth, Barrett, and Lawson. I love you all and I will be home soon.
I didn't die... just feel like it!
with much appreciation,
Reid Patty

Hey big guy! Its great to hear from you. Sounds like the temper is rising a little. Back to normal?
ReplyDeleteBarrett and Beth has relentlessly kept us informed daily and appreciated greatly. I'm sure Lawson also contributed.
Hopefully Sunday will be your departure date back to little Burlington.
Hope to see you soon.
Ron
Boy, can't believe I'm saying this but reading words from you is sweet indeed. Thank goodness for computers, though, so we don't have to to decipher your handwriting....
ReplyDeleteDon't rush it! You'll be home soon enough, just take it easy, get some well deserved rest, and enjoy the family time. When else are you going to get kids to fuss over you like this??
Keep up the fight, Reid. We're all thankful and very proud of you for your unbelievable progress. You're amazing.
Steve
Here I still have not mailed the card to you from when your Dad passed away and now you have a new crisis! I am so sorry about all that your family has been going through, Beth. Sally Williams called Charlie to tell us about Reid. PRAISE GOD that the kids were home and heard him fall AND that you had such a quick EMT response. Sounds like everything worked as best as it could have in the circumstances. I never thought I would say this but thank goodness for Duke and your doctors there too.( I am with you on that, Barrett! ) Our family will be praying for all of you and watching the blog. How wonderful is technology??? It sounds as though you have terrific kids to look out for you and help you take care of your sweetie. I think they definitely have their parents sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun seeing you at that RJR reunion years ago. I had planned on keeping in touch with you much better than I have. Forgive me? I am so sorry about your sweet Daddy. I saw him in the bank last year and got a big hug. He was so sweet. I always loved your parents. I wanted to attend his service but had to work. I wrote you a card and promptly misplaced it. I have been looking for it for weeks. After I heard about Reid, I tore the house up and found it in my Christmas Eve dinner recipes. ????? I will get it in the mail to you.
Please send my love and healthy wishes to Reid. Don't forget to rest, eat, drink lots of water, and take your vitamins. Caregivers forget about themselves! Love you, friend! Tricia
We will pray!!
